We begin our walk to fulfill the tradition of the Day of the Wheat Ear. Along the rural paths, we gather the symbolic branch: the ear of wheat (bread), the poppy (love and life), the marigold (gold and silver), the olive tree (peace and light), and the rosemary (health and strength).
As we cross the meadows of Alféloas and Arcos, we celebrate the identity of Bairrada on the most important day for the municipality of Anadia. The path leads us to discover monuments and museums that tell the story of the land, culminating in the ascent to Monte Crasto. From the top, with a branch in hand and the landscape in our gaze, we feel the pulse of a people who honor their roots and, in the distance, we see Buçaco, that bluish silhouette on the horizon that is not just a geographical destination, but a sanctuary of memories that unite generations.
We remember the times when the groups from Anadia would set off before dawn, when the dew covered the vineyards and the sound of accordions marked the pace of the walk. Monte Crasto, with its privileged view, serves today as this viewpoint of the soul, where past and present intersect in respectful silence.
The journey ends with our traditional toast, where Bairrada sparkling wine seals this day of celebration and abundance.
