linear uphill walk of ~4.5km with easy/medium difficulty level. Return to Luso guaranteed by our private transfer.

footwear with good grip, light jacket for the late afternoon in the mountains, water, and camera for the sunset.

The Walking Experience
Starting in the centre of Luso, by the S. João fountain, we begin our ascent to the sacred forest where water and shade set the pace. We climb towards the deep freshness of the Valley of Ferns, a true botanical sanctuary that shields us from the heat. We continue towards the Cold Fountain (Fonte Fria), where architecture blends with nature, before reaching the monumental elegance of the Bussaco Palace Hotel and the secular silence of the Convent of the Discalced Carmelites.
We cross the historic Coimbra Gate and enter the spirituality of the Via Sacra, following the monks' footsteps towards the summit. We pass through the rare Adernal and Relic Forest, living witnesses of a primitive and untouched forest, until we reach Cruz Alta.
At the highest point of the range, we stop to contemplate the magical moment of the sunset, toasting to the longest days with a sensory gourmet snack of regional flavours. As night falls and the first stars appear on the horizon, we conclude our experience with the comfort of the transfer back to Luso, celebrating the light and mysticism of Bussaco as a group.
