Our experience begins in the village of Torres, from where we set off to discover the vast Bairrada vineyards. Walking among the vines, we observe the landscape and understand the local ethnobotany here, where the ground reveals secrets of a rich past, with the discovery of marine fossils marking where the sea was millions of years ago.
Continuing our journey, we stop at the vineyard swing, the ideal spot to rest, take in the views, and begin to hear the sounds of the approaching festival.
We follow the path back through the vineyards to find traces of the primordial lake in the rolling landscape.
The journey leads to the serenity of Torres Lagoon, a natural biodiversity refuge, before starting our return to the heart of the village.
Back in Torres, we are transported to the Middle Ages. The tranquility of nature gives way to the excitement of the Medieval Festival, evoking the figures of King Afonso IV and D. Martim Lourenço da Cunha.
It is time to enjoy the historical parade and recharge with traditional medieval food, celebrating the living history of this region.
